love and pizza
So Brother and I went for pizza the other night and got into the it about love and relationship.
Brother is deeply in love right now and of course that makes him all squishy and stupid.
Not hard bitten and sarcastic like me.
I maintain that there must come a point in every body’s life when they look at the sheer weight of baggage that both they and potential mates being to the table and think …”You know something, there are better ways for me to spend my time then helping you work though all that especially on my dime.”
Brother says that I’m self involved and maybe he is right but I challenge him and the rest of the world. Why is it that we as a culture get so horny for sex and relationship that we will drop trouser for the first available piece of meat that winks at us fully knowing that nine times out of ten you will end up in a deranged situation. Why not take pleasure in your own company. I’m not saying forsake human contact . have friends have family just asking why this insane need to hurl oneself into meaningless relationship after meaningless relationship with not a single thought of self preservation to smooth the long and gravely road you will be dragged down by someone’s twisted psyche.
Sure sometimes I see couples on the street happy in their passion and wonder; then I see other couples carping at each other and hurting each other and in general making each others lives freaking misery and I stop wondering.
If you cannot be happy on your own you will never be happy with anyone else. and if you are happy on your own…I mean really happy… you will start noticing how much more enjoyable life is when you aren’t bogged down by catering to someone else’s crap-tastic whims,
Case in point I went and saw Wolverine last weekend. I enjoyed myself on my own. I didn’t have to ask permission, shift plans, make compromises I just decided that i wanted to go and I went.

I also didn’t have to sit and explain the movie, the comic book back-story, or put up with arrogant sarcastic comments about why im watching comic-book movies when there are incomprehensible indie-films with zero budgets and impenetrable plot-lines that could be watched and then picked over for socially relevant talking points.
Neither the irony nor the co-incidence are lost upon me.
